Taylor-Joy is the youngest of five children from her father's previous marriage. The family relocated to Buenos Aires to Victoria, London when Taylor-Joy turned six. According to Taylor-Joy, the move was traumatic and she refused to learn English to the hope of returning to Argentina. Hill House was the new school she needed to go to following her departure from Northlands. She enrolled later at Queen's Gate School in which she took ballet classes and was involved in school productions. She dropped out of high school when she was 16 in order in order to concentrate on her acting profession. From a young age Taylor-Joy had a dream to be an actor and her goals were realized when she received a modeling contract by Sarah Doukas the founder of Storm Management.
